SDCC 2013 – Colossus News

21Jul13

Another summer, another con, another year I am not there 😦

However for the third year in a row; I present you with the San Diego Comic Con news roundup regarding Colossus (and a few other interesting non-related new items).

See previous years (2011, 2012)

X-Men: Days Of Future Past

While Daniel Cudmore was not at the panel (full video above) the producers did release the first official (x-mug) shot of Colossus (in uniform but not metal-ed out). There doesnt appear to be a larger/better quality image online so this minute image is the best I could find:

Hopefully Colossus will have some cool scenes and dialogue! X-Men: Days Of Future Past is released May 23, 2014.

Hasbro Marvel Universe Action Figure Line Cancelled

While I was not a big fan of the Marvel Universe line when it was first announced; the quality increased wave on wave and there were some great action figures produced of Colossus, Juggernaut, Hulk (the latest one), Doc Strange among many others. I am still waiting for the Uncanny X-Men three pack (featuring the Colossonaut) to be released; hopefully cancellation of the line will not affect this. [UPDATE: Although details are sketchy it appears it will still be released this Fall]

Of the remaining figures to be released I want to pick up Rhino definitely (which was shown at last years Con) and possibly Abomination, Mysterio and (if the sculpt is good) Captain America.

Hasbro are releasing an Avengers line instead – something I have no interest in whatsoever.

Kevin Smith

The only exclusive this year I am remotely interested in is the Jay and Silent Bob Minimates 2 pack (which I have purchased via evil bay) which celebrates the announcement of a full line of View Askew MiniMates!

The official press release:

Diamond Select Announces View Askew Minimates Line and Comic-Con Exclusive!

When a new Minimates toy line is born, it’s a special time for everybody. So Diamond is going to give birth at the most special time of all! A new line of Minimates is debuting at this year’s Comic-Con International in San Diego, and it’s from the cinematic world of Kevin Smith!

The first exclusive two-pack includes Jay and Silent Bob in black-and-white, just as they appeared in Smith’s groundbreaking debut film Clerks. Future sets will be in black and white as well as full-color, and will be based on all of the View Askew universe films: Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Clerks 2 and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back!
