The Amazing Spider-Man

I saw The Amazing Spider-Man last night. While there was a lot to like love; Emma Stone particularly, Dennis O’Leary, Martin Sheen, and yes Andrew Garfield (who wouldn’t have been my choice) were all excellent. I enjoyed the movie but I wasn’t blown away by it… the visuals, while better than the last three Raimi movies, were still underwelming (possibly attributable to shooting for 3D? I saw it in 2D).

I don’t think I am giving anything away by saying the first act was too long and the third act was predictable and a bit paint-by-numbers. It really is too short a time for a reboot in my opinion – too many similarities with Spider-Man which is just ten years old and still widely available everywhere.

Anyway I will reiterate – I did enjoy it- and it will do very well – the theater was packed.
